Bromont Day 1: Trading Aces
Riding Trading Aces, owned by the Trading Aces Syndicate, LLC, Boyd is fifth after dressage in the CCI*** at The Volvo CCI3* Bromont Three Day Event at Bromont in Quebec, Canada.
The 26th edition of the event is the final North American outing for athletes
trying to make the team for the 2012 Olympic Games. The results of the CCI3* and CIC3* divisions
will help American and Canadian Team selectors determine their representatives
for London.
American Jonathan Holling of Ocala, FL, sits
in first place following the opening phase of dressage in the CCI3* division.
Riding Downtown Harrison, an
eight-year-old Trakehner gelding owned by Connie Holling, he received a winning
score of 46 penalty points, establishing a narrow lead in a starting field of 18
horse and rider combinations.
In second place behind Holling is Michael Pollard of Chatsworth, GA, who received 48.2 penalties for his
dressage performance riding his 2011 Pan American Games team gold medal horse,
Schoensgreen Hanni. Sitting third with
49.6 penalties is double Olympic gold medalist Phillip Dutton of West Grove, PA, riding Atlas.

NJ - Less than a month after the Jersey Fresh CCI at the Horse Park of
New Jersey, the winner of the first half of the BW Furlong and Associates High
Performance Challenge is already thinking about the 2013 Event.
Boyd
Martin rode Crackerjack to a stirring victory in the CCI2* finishing on his
dressage score of 48.5. They led the competition from start to finish. If the
pair can repeat the winning effort in 2013 in the CCI3* - they would take home a
$25,000 bonus for winning the BW Furlong and Associates High Performance
Challenge.

"Over
the years, event riders pour money into these great veterinary clinics, like
Brendan's, to keep these horses on the road," said Martin. "It's great that
Brendan is offering us the chance to get some of that back."
Martin
(Cochranville, PA), a member of the 2010 Land Rover US Eventing Team at the
Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, has been producing Crackerjack from the
Preliminary level. Martin says the horse reminds him of one of his Olympic
contenders, the famed Neville Bardos, with his feisty attitude and bold nature.
"I
don't like my chances of hanging on to my $25,000 with Boyd in the running,"
said Furlong. "He is a fierce competitor on a good horse plus when there's that
much money at stake he will give it his all. Stay tuned - it will be
exciting."
Crackerjack
was formerly ridden by Colin Davidson who died in a car accident in 2010. His
mother, Lucy Boynton Lie, continues to campaign the horse in the name of her
late son.
Started
in 2011 by Dr. Brendan Furlong, who heads to his fifth Olympic Games as the Land
Rover US Eventing Team Veterinarian, the BW Furlong High Performance Challenge
was established to promote the sport of eventing at the Horse Park of New
Jersey. It will be awarded to a horse-and-rider combination that wins the Jersey
Fresh CCI2* and then the CCI3* the following year.

Congratulations to Sasha and Doug Walsh for Purchasing Juno W
Congratulations to Sasha and Doug Walsh for Purchasing Juno W, is one of our home bred horses. She is a wonderful mare and we are so excited that she is now with Sasha and Doug, and will have a wonderful home at their 50-acre farm in Nottingham, PA, which is very close to our farm in Cochranville.
Sasha has been training with me for a while now and she is a very talented
and dedicated rider, currently competing at first level with her horse
Chancellor. I am so excited to be able to be part of Sasha and Juno's training. I know
the two of them have a very exciting future together!
It is so much fun to have Doug and Sasha around and I am looking forward to
all their success!!!

Silva to Show Jacky Kinney's Domino at PVDA Ride for Life
I am riding a wonderful horse named Domino for Jacky Kinney. Domino is a 10-year old Danish
wamblood gelding. I have been working with Domino and Jacky for a few years on
and off now and I love riding and training this horse: he
is super talented and very smart and at the same time he has the biggest
heart!
Jacky, a professional rider from Maryland who has ridden successfully to the Grand Prix level, bought Domino as a two-year-old and has done most of his training herself. I very much enjoy helping the pair of them!
For the first time Domino has been with me for a few months, since Jacky hurt her knee falling off a young horse. When she asked me if I would show Domino for her, of course I said I would love to! Domino and I will be showing at the PVDA Ride For Life at the end of the month in
fourth level.
I am having a blast with him!

Boyd is currently ranked third in the HSBC World Rankings with 420 points, a very encouraging place to be in the lead-up to the Olympic Games. With a string of solid four-star horses, it's looking up to be a very exciting summer!

Final Preparations for Bromont
I'm proud to say that I have four, in form, advanced horses priming up for one of the most important events of the year, the Bromont Three-Day Event in Quebec, Canada.
Trading Aces will take part in the CCI 3*, which is the long format version of the three star in Bromont. This is a new horse for me, thanks to the Trading Aces Syndicate. While on the greener side of things, this horse absolutely oozes with class. I'm also taking the three horses that are in contention for the Olympic Games: Neville, Remington, and Otis. It is my goal to put in a dazzling performance on all three of these horses, impressing the selectors so much, that all three of them will make it on the flight to the UK in two weeks' time.
I've decided to aim the seasoned campaigner, Denise Lahey's and Pierre Colin's Ying Yang Yo, for the Luhmuehlen CCI4* in Germany the following week. Thomas has been working well, and I look forward to meeting him somewhere in Hamburg the Monday morning after Bromont to compete in Germany's toughest three-day event.

I've been training hard on all five horses, polishing up their performances under the watchful eyes of my jumping coach, Phillip Dutton, and my dressage coaches, my wife Silva and Michael Barisone. As you'll see in the video, there is a contrasting manner to the coaching with the softly spoken Phil partnered with the fired-up Mike.
I believe that this preparation has been made even more successful by the improvements to our training facility. Attwood Equestrian Surfaces and Riding Ringmasters who have constructed two world class arenas at our farm in Cochranville. In the dressage ring, we are riding on Atwood's Pinnacle surface. This is a polymer coated sand that is dust free and non-tacky, and manufactured from premium raw materials. And in the jumping ring, we are riding on the Euro Tex, which is created with microfibers which add cushioning to the surface. I would like to give a special thanks to both Riding Ringmasters and Attwood for not only their unbelievable products, but also their first-class service and their affordable pricing.
