Thanks to ECORE International, Plantation Field will be sporting the world’s first-ever red rubber brick jog-up strip, made of PaveSafe Pavers. They are hard at work getting ready for the big event!

For as many years as I can remember, Gerry Hoover has been the Field Master for Mr. Stewart’s Cheshire Foxhounds during the summer exercises known variously as “hound walking” or “hound jogging”. This period, commencing for Cheshire the beginning of July, is when the hunt staff introduces the young hounds to the rigor of paying attention to the Huntsman while being distracted by freedom and the temptation all sorts of new smells. As foxhounds follow scent and are not “sight” hunters they are now being trained to ignore rabbits, cats, groundhogs and other creatures they may come across and to focus on the scent of the Fox. “Whips” are kept busy trying to keep the hounds together in a cohesive bunch. Gerry’s role is pretty much the same for the people who come out behind the hounds during the summer – to keep the group together a safe distance away from the hounds so the followers themselves are not yet another distraction for the hounds when they are working, and to round up the stragglers.

OCT 8TH & 9TH CLINIC WITH BOYD IN !

Clinic at Stony Brook Farm

Stony Brook Farm hosted a fantastic clinic in New Hampshire over the weekend.


It was perfect weather and a perfect venue to put on a clinic for the riders, who ranged from Beginner Novice up to Preliminary.




On the first day we worked on show jumping gymnastics and a then moved on to jumping a course.



 On Sunday we spent the day training cross-country.

It was also the first time I had seen Thomas (Ying Yang Yo) since we competed together at the Luhmuehlen four-star in Germany a couple of months ago. His owner Denise Lahey has him looking in great health. The old Ying Yang went like a gem for Denise on both days. I must say it was a great feeling watching him enjoy his new job at Stony Brook Farm.

Last but not least a foal was born on Sept. 2nd.

Congrats to the American contingent doing so well at  Burghley 2012, especially Sinead and Alison who are standing first and second after dressage.
