Boyd's bold move in competing Otis in the three-star at The Fork in Norwood, NC is going well so far, with Neville's handsome French twin cantering around the cross-country course like it was a walk in the park today. It was a slow and easy ride so time faults dropped them from 4th to 13th place but Otis looks confident and happy to be jumping the big jumps. Making a speedy comeback from breaking her collarbone when she fell from a young horse, Jennie Brannigan is leading the division on Cambalda.
Ron and Densey Juvonen's Remington XXV is is good form as he prepares to head to the Rolex Kentucky CCI****, currently in 2nd place in the Advanced division, moving up from a three-way tie for third place with a clean round and just a few time faults, (only two horses, including the leader Will Faudree on Andromaque, finished inside the time). Cold Harbor is also in second place in Intermediate-A, with Will Faudree leading in this division too, this time on Pawlow.
The day was cool and overcast, perfect for cross-country, and the rain held off until evening. Competitors had an exciting display of thunder and lightning tonight for the Saturday evening competitor's party, but tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and clear for riders and spectators to enjoy the show jumping.
Prelim jumped today, with Charla going clear to move up to 4th place. Lillian and Ariel are in 3rd in the same division, and Lillian is also 2nd in preliminary B on Share Option, who is making a comeback after injuring a tendon earlier in the season. Good luck to all the prelim horses on cross-country tomorrow!
