Clinic with an Olympian

Boyd is a 4 star eventing competitor. He was shortlisted for the Australian Olympic team on two horses, Yin Yang Yo and Neville Bardos. Since becoming a US citizen, Boyd has had great success competitively. He was named Rider of the year by the Chronicle of the Horse in 2011. He was talented enough to have not 1 but 3 horses on the selection list for the Olympics. On the chosen mount, Otis Barbotiere, Boyd had a successful outing in dressage and cross country for his first Olympics representing the US.  To find out more about Boyd go to  www.boydandsilvamartin.com

Boyd Martin is one of the best clinician I have ridden with in a long time. People who ride with him feel they and their horses were challenged mentally and physically without being over faced. Your confidence reaches a new level. He demonstrates imagination in the exercises he teaches. He explains techniques for both stadium and cross country clearly and logically. My horses excelled during the class and I have used many suggestions afterwards. You don’t want to miss riding in this clinic!

I am honored to be hosting Boyd at my farm after his debut at the Olympics. He does not do clinics very often, so come join in a fabulous learning experience!

Champagne Eventing in Michigan

Crackerjack at the Jog
The city of Kalamazoo, MI turned out a sensational weekend of exciting eventing action at Richland Park. We made the trip with a few of the up and coming young horses who are starting to compete at the more serious end of the scale. I think it's well worth the long travel time to get to Richland as their cross-country courses offer good galloping courses that resemble three-day event tracks.

Our two younger prelim horses, Partyboy and New Cadet, showed great improvement in the dressage and cross-country but also showed their inexperience with a couple of rattly showjumpng rounds.

A new horse In training for me, Master Frisky, showed class in the intermediate division, coming second. Frisky is in training with us while we prepare him for sale and he looks to be a very, very classy horse.

Crackerjack Showing Them How it's Done

Crackers was in devastating form this weekend, showing brilliance in all three phases against a quality field. The wild man of our team won the division wire to wire.

In the three star class, Caitlin rode Hoku and I rode Trading Aces, who put in credible performances and started to show promising signs of being very competitive at Fair Hill this year.

Hats off must go to the organizers who literally irrigated every inch of Richland Park, ensuring the place looked like a golf course during a tough Midwestern drought. Even with harsh farming conditions, we all enjoyed some of America's best corn on the cob at the BBQ on Saturday night.
