The upper-level Windurra Event Horses headed back
north to Pennsylvania via the Southern Pines Horse Trials at the Carolina Horse Park in North Carolina last weekend. This is one of the premier events of the
winter and is a real test for all the horses and riders. It was even more of a
test for myself, after deciding that I needed to upgrade three of my prelim horses to
their first Intermediate competition.
Once again the event was brilliant, with a new
design to the cross-country course that definitely led to a flowing ride, which left a
great taste in the horses’ mouths at the finish. All the horses did relatively
well. I would say the highlight performance of the weekend was Caitlin winning
the Intermediate on Remi and Steady Eddie running 2nd in the other
Intermediate class in his debut at this level.
Trading Aces really did well in his preparation for
Rolex. He jumped very well in cross-country and show jumping. Dressage showed a
few moments of tension that I believe will be rectified by the time we start at
The Fork in two weeks’ time.
