Oscar (Trading Aces) |
As we prepare for the
Plantation Field CIC3*, Trading Aces has come out of the Richland Park 3* in great condition. He’s been on a fast and furious fitness schedule, galloping up Nelson’s Hill every four days. I’m also utilizing a track here in Unionville and I’m doing some long interval training to make sure he has plenty of endurance. I believe he’s in good shape for the up-and-coming CIC3* at Plantation Field.

New Cadet |
This year I’ve got three chances for the two-star: Steady Eddie, Pancho Villa and New Cadet. All three horses are heading toward Fair Hill and this will be one of their final lead-up competitions.

Pancho Villa |

SBF Cortez
|
New Cadet is incredibly talented but the greenest of the three and I’ll be looking to keep him settled in the dressage and put in some confident dressage and show jumping.
|
Steady Eddie |
Pancho Villa, a newer ride to me, is starting to click. Every day I feel like I know this French gelding better and better and I’m looking for a top finish.
Steady Eddie is feeling more seasoned at the two-star level and I believe he’s a solid four-star prospect for the future and we will be looking for a top-five finish from him.
I have three horses for the one-star but only two that I’m riding. SBF Cortez has been in red-hot form this year. I’m definitely feeling the pressure of a great result for Brewster since he’s owned by the landowners and event organizers, Katie and Cuyler Walker.

Brewster |
Ballyneety will be ridden by none other than London Silver Medalists, Sara Ostholt, who is one of the guest International riders. Ballyneety’s owners the Wintersteens have been kind enough to lend Sara the ride and I believe with a rider of this caliber this horse’s chances of glory have much improved.

Caitlin will be tacking up Remington and Catch a Star in the CIC3* along
with Gloria Callan’s impressive prelim mare, Welcome Shadow….

Auntie Jan and a young Boyd |
I’m also looking forward to a visit from my Auntie Jan, who’s flying over from Australia for this great event as well as Dressage at Devon the following week. I’m sure everyone that is attending Plantation, be them rider owner or sponsor, will become well-acquainted with my aunt before the weekend is over!
