SBF Eowyn, "Wynnie", added to her career three wins and three second-place finishes by placing second in the Training Division at Full Gallop Farm in Aiken, SC last week. She has had a brilliant start to her eventing career with 7 finishes now in the top 2! Wynnie is the perfect horse for someone to move up the levels while being extremely competitive. Plantation Field Equestrian Events Selects Olympian Nina Fout for Course Designer Development Program
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Plantation Field Equestrian Events Selects Olympian Nina Fout for Course Designer Development Program
Feb. 9, 2015 -- Unionville, PA -- Plantation Field Equestrian Events Inc. is pleased to announce that Olympian Nina Fout has been selected as the first participant in the new Course Designer Development Program, a mentorship with world-renowned course designer Mike Etherington-Smith.
Under Etherington-Smith's guidance, Fout, a licensed 'S' course designer, will work on designing the CIC* and CIC2* courses for Plantation Field International Horse Trials in Unionville, Pennsylvania, with the goal for her to ultimately take over designing these courses in the future.
A member of the U.S. bronze medal team at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, Fout has also ridden around some of the most challenging cross country courses in the world, from Badminton and Burghley to Blenheim and Rolex, which she said has helped greatly in fostering her skills as a course designer.
"I have to thank Plantation Field Equestrian Events for the incredible opportunity to work with Mike E-S. He's a brilliant course designer, and the venue is a wonderful setting to showcase good design," Fout said.
"Plantation has a great community and is a very popular event, and it's wonderful for the sport to have someone of Mike's experience to put his stamp on the course and to continue to elevate the standard of course design in the U.S. I'm very excited to be a part of that."
Fout's 'S' license allows her to design through the Advanced level at national events, and she has already designed at Middleburg, CDCTA, Kelly's Ford, Gordonsdale and Morningside, with her long-term goal remaining to design at the FEI level.
Boyd Martin, a member of the selection committee that chose Fout -- along with Mike E-S, Phillip Dutton, Mary Coldren and Denis Glaccum -- said the committee received six quality applications for the program, and he is excited to welcome Nina to the Plantation team.
"Nina has ridden at the Olympic level and has a wonderful creative mind for course design," Martin said. "We all felt her working with Mike E-S could boost her career towards being one of America's next great four-star course designers."
Mike E-S said he is busy finalizing the plans for the program and anticipates that he and Fout will begin working on the courses very soon.
"Nina has already done quite a lot of designing, and I am looking forward to working with her on the courses for the September event and hopefully being able to share some of what I have been lucky enough to learn over the years," he said.
Plantation Field International Horse Trials will be held Sept. 18-20, 2015 in Unionville, Pennsylvania. For more information, visit www.plantationfieldht.com.
Purina Headquarters Tour
Last Monday I was absolutely blown away by the tour I took with my fellow Purina ambassadors at the Purina Headquarters in St. Louis, MO. It was well worth the time exploring the farm I where Purina does all of their research into making better feed. I got to see how much in-depth research goes into making the best feed in America. I also got to meet up with some of Purina's vets and learn more about which horse feed gives horses more energy for jumping higher and galloping faster. It was also really cool spending the day with some of Purina's other top horsemen and women, including some of the best reiners, ropers and steer wrestlers in the industry, learning about how awesome Purina is.

First CDI of the Season for Windurra Dressage
Saphira
![]() |
Aesthete ("Stately)
It was Aestethe's first CDI and I could not be happier with how he went. He tried so hard for me. We had a good PSG on Wednesday with a few mistakes and finished on 67.8% .
We did qualify for the Intermediare 1 on Friday and he was fabulous in the International ring. Again we had a few little mistakes but we increased our score to 68.2% .
This is a great horse and I am so excited about the future with him.
Rosa
My girl Rosa Cha W was very good. We made some unusual little mistakes that hurt our scores, but we got better with every test. In the PSG she scored 67.2% and in Intermediare 1 we scored 68.8%; in the freestyle Sunday we scored 69.8% to finish eighth. I love our new music that Jerusha picked and Anne Miller put together beautifully! Thank you to both of them.
Rosa in the Awards
Debbie McDonald was there for all my warm ups and that was so amazing. I love working with her!
We were awarded the Best Foot Forward award this weekend. I was so appreciative of the award, considering, let's say, it hasn't been the easiest year for me.
A surprise visit from George Morris
I could not believe my eyes when I came out of the ring on Rosa and saw George Morris there cheering me on. I am the luckiest girl and have HUGE respect for George! He looked up my ride time and came over to the dressage just to watch me go. WOW!!
The last time I saw him was when he came to the trauma center in Florida to visit me. This was for sure a happier occasion!
Saphira
I also ride my new mare Saphira in the national show at PSG and I-1. Saphira is owned by John McGuire and Marilyn Johnson. Let me tell you, this mare is AMAZING! I feel so lucky that John and Marilyn choose me to ride this great mare.
This was our first show together and we won the PSG on Saturday and the Intermediare 1 on Sunday with 73% .
We are planning on doing our first CDI together in two weeks time!
Again I could not do any of this without my great girls Jerusha and Jessie!
I will be uploading videos soon, so stay tuned.
