Boyd Martin explains how recent injuries have resulted in him undergoing ankle surgery, how this will affect his spring season and why it's a good thing to take a step back sometimes. Is this time for him to start breeding cats as a sideline? Follow us on Twitter @WindurraUSA and @chrisestafford.

Talent, looks and opportunities take Oliver Jasny from the threadbare gymkhanas of his youth to the rarefied heights of international dressage where he becomes a celebrity, the darling of the dressage set and lands the biggest sponsorship in the history of equestrianism. But when his sister Kathryn goes to his sumptuous training establishment she does not like what she finds one little bit... Caroline Akrill writes with a real knowledge of the equine world. She vividly recreates the tense moments of open competition, the atmosphere of the showgrounds, riding schools and training establishments. Her prose sparkles with humor, has some real heart-stopping moments and a truly dramatic finale. Flying Changes was first published by Arlington Books, London in 1985. Read by Chris Stafford. HH Lancaster Stars in Evention.com Video

Here is the latest Evention episode were Dom and Jimmie give a great clinic on making your eye more accurate.

Dom demonstrates the exercises on HH Lancaster, whom is a Canadian Sport Horse that is owned in partnership with Ron and Densey Juvonen and Art and Justina Dodge. HH Lancaster is slowly developing into a really class horse: he started out a bit wild, but as you can see on the video, he is really starting to settle and look the part. Dom has been good enough to help with his training, and also compete him a number of times while I have been injured.

I must say, this is an excellent training video. The information that is given on the Evention episodes are very helpful, and things that we all should practice. Dom and Jimmie have a great way of simplifying the art of improving.

Thank you Dom and Jimmie and thank you Densey, Ron, Art and Justina for getting behind this horse.

Aussie Homebreds Debut in Style

I am very proud to say that last weekend at MCTA Horse Trials, two of my Homebreds from Australia debuted in the Open Beginner Novice.  Ray Price and Wallaroo both just turned four years old and have been here in the States for the past 18 months.
L-R: Amy Lindgren, Caitlin on Wallaroo, Lindsey, and Ray Price
I own half of each of these horses with my long term supporter Amy Lindgren.  Amy has been good enough to own a number of horses through the years, including USEA Prelim Horse of the Year Minotaure De Passoir and Warranga.  It has been a real thrill to be connected with Amy, and watch these horses develop over the years.

Both Ray Price and Wallaroo are a result of three generations of breeding. They are both 75% thoroughbred and 25% Dutch warmblood.  They have close relations to Grand Prix show jumpers, Grand Prix dressage horses, and Olympic 4-star eventers.

I can't tell you how excited I am about the future with not only these young horses, but all of the up and coming horses that are aiming for great things in the future. I very much enjoy producing them, and feel that the production of quality young horses is the key to any rider's success who is keen to be at the top of this sport for a long period of time.

MCTA Horse Trials

Boyd reports from the sidelines:

Caitlin on Ray Price with Amy and Me
With my surgery having taken place on Wednesday, I decided to sideline myself for last weekend's MCTA horse trials.  Most of the young horses had an outing with my 4-star riding assistant Caitlin, along with eventionTV host Dommy Schramm.

Ray & Wally
It was a great opportunity to watch the horses that I usually ride competing with these two in the tack.  I must say that all the horses ooze with class, and it's very exciting to think how awesome they could all be in a couple of years. Both Dom and Caitlin did a stellar job not only competing the horses, but putting up with me heckling from the sidelines.
