Boyd and Shamwari in Chronicle of the Horse

Boyd Martin has just added an exciting new mount to his string: Shamwari 4. He put together a syndicate to purchase the horse that Swedish eventer Ludwig Svennerstal rode to 20th place at the 2012 London Olympic Games and team silver at the 2013 HSBC FEI European Eventing Championships (Sweden).

Martin, Cochransville, Pa., described the 12-year-old Hanoverian gelding (Star Regent xx—Donnice, Der Clou) as one of the best eventers in the world. “He earns great scores in dressage, he’s lightning fast on cross-country, and clean in the show jumping,” Martin said.

“What drew me to this horse is that he has already proven himself with Swedish rider Ludwig Svennerstal,” Martin added. “But with that comes a lot of pressure to ride Shamwari 4 and perform as well with him as Ludwig did.”

Boyd Martin buys Swedish Olympic horse Shamwari

Announcing: Shamwari 4

I'm excited to announce that I rallied a syndicate to buy one of the world's great event horses, Shamwari 4. Ludwig Svennerstal competed the German-bred gelding for Sweden at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. 

Shammie is in the prime of his career at only 11 years old. He’s superb in the dressage, often scoring in the 30’s; a brilliant, bold, fast cross-country horse; and a talented show jumper.

I’m blessed to have some great supporters who have got behind this horse; obviously to purchase a horse of this quality takes a massive amount of support from the owners and I can’t say how much I appreciate their generosity.  I’m trying to fill the Shamwari Syndicate with existing members from our other syndicates, as well as encouraging some new owners to join me on the roller coaster ride of being part of a big time four-star event horse.

For Sale: Billie Jean Halliday

The lovely mare Billie Jean Halliday has arrived safe and sound in Aiken, SC. She’s settled in well and is ready for prospective buyers to come try her, just in time for the winter season to begin in the Carolinas. 

She has hunted successfully through the winter with the Cheshire hunt in PA and while still green, has been out four times in the second flight and behaved herself well. She would make a super ladies' hunt horse. Her dressage training also keeps progressing while she’s in training with us (see video). 

Her price has been reduced to $10,000, so now's the time to drop by the farm and give her a try!
