Five Shares Left in Rosa Cha Syndicate

 

Rosa Cha is one of the most naturally talented dressage horses that I have ever trained. She is superbly bred in Australia in 2005 by my husband Boyd and myself. Her father is the Rubenstein son Regardez Moi who represented Australia at the Grand Prix World Cup Final in Las Vegas in 2009. She was imported from Australia to the US in 2008 and already has an incredible competition record. 

 

Last year she competed at fourth level and went ten straight events without being beaten. At Dressage at Devon she really started to impress the judges and excite the crowd with phenomenal performances at Fourth level, winning with scores in the 70th percentile.

She has stunning looks and a sensational presence with phenomenal gaits. Every time she sets foot off the farm to compete, she turns into the most eye-catching horse of the show. The most brilliant factor about Rosa is that she has unbelievable ability for the Grand Prix movements.

Last weekend Rosa competed in her first Prix St. George FEI competition. She was absolutely sensational, demolishing the field at the Ocala Horse Park and collecting her debut scores at this level with 72% and 73%  to become the FEI Champion of the show

Rosa will be competing in her first International competition in the CDI at the brand new Dressage facility in Wellington, Florida March 14-17.

My big goal with Rosa is making a US team in the near future. She will be absolutely primed in her competition timeline to represent the United States at the Rio Olympics in 2016. I am also excited to be eligible to represent this country, as I have recently become an American citizen.

Eventers Invade Aiken

The Crew

The Windurra team of event horses have officially all arrived at Ilene Boorman's magnificent equestrian heaven, Bridle Creek Farm in Aiken, SC. 2013 looks to be a very exciting year with a stronger quality of event horses in training than ever before, partnered up with a very enthusiastic, hard working crew to look after them.

Bridle Creek Farm is an awesome facility within the Bridle Creek development that has all of the bells and whistles needed to train horses including a massive jumping ring, an Eric Bull designed cross-country course, a dressage ring with mirrors, and superb turnout. The other remarkable thing about the layout of the property is that it is situated in the midst of 2000 acres of open country. At this time of the year, getting the horses fit is a priority and there are endless amounts of trails with great footing throughout Bridle Creek to get them fit on.

Our neighbors, however, are questionable... with Phillip Dutton, Ryan Wood, Kevin Keane, Jessica Hampf and Doug Payne all within a stone's throw of the property, it makes it very hard to stay focused on riding, especially with the smell of BBQ cooking up most nights.

Dressage Horses Arrived to Luxury in Aiken

We have arrived for our winter in Aiken at Fernanda Kellogg and Kirk Henckel’s recently renovated FoxFrolic Farm. Kyymy, the dressage horses and I arrived a week ago and were astounded by the improvements that they have made since last year! While we were there last winter everything was under construction; now everything is finished and it’s outstanding! The barns are like the Taj Mahal! The arena has great mirrors and the horses are in heaven. We can’t thank Fernanada and Kirk enough for giving us the chance to work out of their beautiful farm. We’ll be there until the middle of February and then we’re going on to Wellington, Florida.

It’s also a lot of fun working with Nick Meyers the farm manager and also a rider. He has one wing of the barn and we have another wing. Bonnie Stedt is also there with her horses  (pic of Clancy Himself) – and it's great having her around too!

This weekend Kymmy and I are heading to Ocala for our first show of the season – stay tuned for updates!

Reflections on 2012

With 2012 behind us and 2013 staring us in the face it’s a great time to reflect on the highs and lows of the past year and the exciting moments before us.

We had a fantastic 2012, for the first time running our business out of our very own facility in Cochranville, PA. In the past we’ve been lucky enough to rent some of the best facilities around, both in Australia and in PA, but it was a huge achievement to get our own place. Being land owners is not without obstacles but we’re in a great location for training dressage and event horses to the highest standards possible right in the heart of Pennsylvania horse country.

On the whole 2012 was a very successful year for both the dressage and event horses. Without going into every performance, obviously the moments of brilliance for Silva include her total domination at Dressage at Devon in the fall, and for Boyd the opportunity to represent the United States the Olympic Games for the first time. 

We are very grateful to the owners who have supported us and their horses over the past year. On top of that we have a fantastic group of sponsors backing us. Without this support we truly would not be where we are today. We would also like to give a huge thanks to our staff and working students, who have devoted a great deal of time and energy to keeping our horses looking, feeling and performing their best.

We both took huge satisfaction from assisting the younger riders that we coach. While this is not the main focus of our business at the moment, we do take great joy and pride in helping people achieve their equestrian goals. At the top of the list would be our assistant riders, with KymmyPullen showing successfully in Prix St. George dressage and Caitlin Silliman riding at the Three-Star level of eventing.

Beyond eventing we both enjoyed our first year as members of the Cheshire Foxhounds. In the months of November and December we thoroughly enjoyed the thrills of riding through the beautiful open spaces with our neighbors and members of the equestrian community.

We can’t say how fired up for 2013 we both are right now: without question we have the highest quality of horses that we’ve ever had in both our careers. Both of us feel like we are still very much on the upward curve in improving our riding and training of these great horses.

We’d like to wish everyone the best of luck for the coming year and as we get ready for the ups and downs in the roller coaster ride of equestrian life!

I would like to congratulate Laila Bolsteins on her recent purchase of Wakefield, an impressive six-year-old English Thoroughbred gelding.

Wakefield has been with us for about a year, since Katie and Cuyler Walker imported him from England and placed him in training with Boyd. Wakefield has had a successful training level career with Boyd and Caitlin, most recently placing third at Flora Lea, with previous accomplishments including wins at Pine Top, (GA) and Sporting Days, (SC) in 2012. He is an impressive young horse with a wonderful temperament, beautiful movement on the flat, and a scopey jump. He has not had a single cross-country penalty to date and has all the ingredients for the making of a super event horse.

Wakefield has a strong future ahead of him and we are very excited that he will be able to continue his eventing career with Laila!
