Last Monach enjoying the snow in PA

I am very honored to say that I have Last Monach, also known as "Super Stew," in work thanks to the pregnancy of Holly Hudspeth. Unfortunately Stew will be only with me for the next few months until Holly pops out her first bambino....congratulations to her and Chuck!

Stewy is a top class 4-star event horse that Holly bought off the race track out in Seattle many years ago. Holly has produced him from racehorse up to advanced event horse in only a few years. He is currently one of the best horses in the country. Last year he was on the short list for the US on the WEG squad.

I have had him in training for the last month, and I have been working on basically getting to know him. He is a super talented jumper that seriously cracks his back when he is in the air! My main focus has been the dressage, with figuring out which buttons to press to ask for the changes and the half passes. He is a very fit horse currently, cantering five miles twice a week and doing it without even raising a sweat!

I would like to thank Chuck for "knocking up" the bride, and giving me this great opportunity to ride this champion....

My first outing will be on him next month in the Intermediate at Pine Top down in Georgia.

Amazing result for LAURA STIGLER (Silva's sister) at Muenster CSN\CDN

My little sister Laura had an amazing result last night at the CDN in Muenster, Germany, one of the biggest shows in the country.Laura was riding the German gelding Buddy Holly, who is by Brentano II out of a Weltmeyer mare, in the Grand Prix. It was a big and very competitive field.

Laura and Buddy were first in the arena and finished in second place with 68.7% behind Brigitte Wittig with 69.1%!

I am very proud of my little sister - this is a very big result!

January 2011 Neville Bardos Syndicate Members Report.

Well folks, I usually update the owners of the horses I have in work via a phone call, or an email...I am faced with a new dilemma: Neville Bardos now has 7 different owners. I decided to syndicate my WEG horse from last year into 10 shares and I have sold 7 of them, so there are still three to go.

Jump School at Mary Hazzard's Farm

Yesterday my crew and I decided to take our young horses and sales horses for some jump training off the farm. My good friend and world champion from 1978 Mary Hazzard has a beautiful jumping course set up in her indoor arena just miles down the road.

We took 9 horses in total, including some of the horses I’ll be eventing for the first time in Aiken. I also took some of the sales horses to give them some more experience jumping away from the farm.

My two working students/assistant riders Caitlin Silliman and Lillian Heard took their new up and coming horses. Both these girls have been riding with me for a while now and slowly but surely they are looking like Olympic caliber riders. Both have horses that are on track for contention for the London Olympics and it’s a great feeling yelling and screaming at these girls as I try to improve their riding everyday.

Schatzi W Sold to Nancy Calhoun of North Carolina

I am both happy and sad to announce that I sold Schatzi W today.

I bred "Robyn" back in Australia in the year 2000. Her mother was named "Batwoman", so naturally her first daughter was "Robyn". She has been a great horse for me over the last decade. I bred her, broke her in and then trained and competed her to the advanced level in Australia and here in the States .

In the end Robyn was not quite sound and tough enough for a big-time four-star horse. The sad part was that this mare's heart is so big she would try to do anything; she would never give up or stop at anything, even if it was a bit too much for her. To be honest, I thought it was not fair to ask her to do something that she was not up to. In the end, I believe it was best to place her in a situation where she would get treated like a princess and still have a job to do every day to keep her active.

I am very happy and very lucky that Nancy Calhoun of North Carolina has purchased Robyn. Nancy is aiming at third level dressage and maybe some low level eventing. I believe Nancy is a kind person and a good horsewoman who will give Robyn a great life. This mare has plenty left in the tank, as she is only 11 years old, so I look forward to following their success.

Australian native Boyd Martin, 31, relocated to the United States in 2007 to pursue his dreams of international eventing competition. He and his wife Silva, a Grand Prix dressage rider who is originally from Germany and now rides for the USA, operate Windurra USA out of Phillip Dutton’s True Prospect Farm. Now riding for the United States, Boyd, who has dual citizenship, was the top-finishing American individual and a member of the 4th-placed US Eventing Team at the 2010 Alltech World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Kentucky.

With three horses competing at the three-star level, in 2010 Boyd was named a member of the US Eventing team’s “A” training list, with the WEG as his goal. Three top-twelve finishes at the Rolex Kentucky CCI4* event placed him on the short list with Neville Bardos and Remington XXV. Following his success at the WEG, Boyd capped off the year with a top-ten finish riding Ron and Densey Juvonen’s Remington XXV at the Pau CCI4* in France, his first competition in Europe. Boyd finished 2010 ranked 5th on the international HSBC FEI Rider of the Year Rankings, 3rd overall on the US Eventing Association’s Rider of the Year Leaderboard and USEA Preliminary Rider of the Year. He has also been named to the 2011 “A” train
